A Wedding in Ireland – Destination Wedding Photographers

We are finally getting around to sharing our photos from Ireland! Now, since this is a travel wedding blog, you’ll get a few stories with the images. The whole reason behind the Ireland trip was to assist our friend, Kori Biller, Motley Melange Photography, shoot a wedding at a small church in Ireland (with the wedding prep and reception at Dromoland Castle!). Nicole and I are always, and I mean ALWAYS, up for traveling, especially when we can take gorgeous photos! Needless to say, we were stoked for a wedding at an actual castle!!! We flew into Shannon, Ireland, and jumped into a rental car which was a big adventure because there is nothing like driving on the wrong side of the road…in a STANDARD! I actually happen to love driving standards, so it was a nice little treat! We pulled onto the grounds of beautiful Dromoland Castle late Monday evening. The grounds were stunning, even at night! We met up with Kori to discuss the wedding day timeline and where she wanted us to be and when.

Tuesday morning started with the groom, Dustin, and his groomsmen getting hot shaves at Calvin Arthur Barbers. I myself tend to keep a beard, mostly because Nicole likes it, but, man oh man! If I was ever going to get a hot shave, it would have been that day at that place! The guys at Calvin Arthur Barbers were great! They fixed up Irish Coffees for all who were interested and were just the nicest guys! Plus, they all had great accents! Interesting side note, this particular barber was located right next door to a butcher, who just so happened to offered “fresh” Irish meat. (A little Demon Barber of Fleet Street, anyone?)  I really liked the logo for this shop, it totally fit their vibe!

After the guys had their fresh shaves, we did a quick head count and headed back to the hotel.  Dustin and Adrienne were both all smiles as they got ready for their big day!

This couple got married at the cutest little church not far from Dromoland Castle. As it was just a few days before Christmas, the church was decorated for the season. I LOVED being in Ireland at Christmas. It was such a great time of year to visit!

What’s a wedding without a bagpiper? This particular gentleman was amazing!

Nicole grabbed this next image of Adrienne walking to the church with her brother. I just love the happiness in this image!

After the ceremony, we headed back to Dromoland Castle for the reception. The bagpiper played as Dustin and Adrienne entered the castle.

Dromoland provided a beautiful spot for a reception! And the guests were kept on the dance floor thanks to the Connor McKeon band! These guys were awesome! If Nicole and I ever do a vow renewal in Ireland, these guys would be hired for sure!

We had such a great time working with Kori and sharing Dustin and Adrienne’s special day, but our favorite part was when it was just the couple. Despite the freezing cold and howling, I mean HOWLING, wind, we captured some gorgeous couple portraits! Now, keep in mind, we were second shooters at this wedding. Kori of Motley Melange posed the couple to get her image first, and then we stepped in to grab some magic of our own. Here are just a few of our favorites…

Ok, that was a great way to start a vacation. In fact, we would LOVE to start every vacation by shooting a destination wedding! Kori, it was so great working with you!  If you haven’t yet, check out Kori’s website www.motleymelange.com

Blogstalkers, we will be sharing some more Ireland travel pics soon and after that some snowy New York City pictures!
