Ross & Lacey – Columbia, Mississippi Portrait Photographers

Ross and Lacey were adorable together. Ross kept Lacey giggling just about the entire session, so he got extra bonus points with us because laughing photos are the best photos! But our favorite thing about Ross…other than his ability to make Lacey laugh and his Chris-Pratt-look-a-like features? He sees something he wants and goes after it. Prime example? When he opens a checking account and sees a photo of a pretty girl…well, they end up married. :)

AnnaBelle – Tylertown, Mississippi Senior Portrait Photographers

AnnaBelle is a senior at Tylertown High School where she plays the drums AND is their mascot! She’s riding that love of band into college and her future career as a band director. If you love what you do, then it will never feel like work, right? We think AnnaBelle is on the right path. Here are a few from her senior portrait session…

Walkabout – Iceland Edition

It’s been a long time coming but we are finally getting around to sharing our Iceland photos! We planned our trip right before the tourist season really started. This wasn’t going to be an ordinary trip for us.  Iceland has the Ring Road which runs the entire circumference of Iceland.  The Ring Road is 828 miles long.  For such a long drive, we planned to travel the road in style and comfort…RV style and comfort, that is! We rented an RV via Airbnb from a pretty awesome Icelandic family.  Once we got our RV and set out the road, we immediately made a stop at the grocery store which was conveniently located about 2 blocks up the road.  We loaded up on food and supplies and headed out to Grindavik for a quick nap and shower before really hitting the road.  (We were pretty exhausted and felt gross after the plane ride.)

Our first stop along Ring Road was at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. This particular waterfall is popular because you get to walk behind it! We came prepared for us and our cameras to get wet!

It got pretty hard to tell if the photographs were in focus between the waterproof camera case being covered in water and the constant mist, but we were pretty happy with what we got! At one point, I did drop the front cap to my camera waterproof bag and ended up crawling down a pretty good ways to find it!

Our next stop on the waterfall tour was Skogafoss. This waterfall is awesome because you can walk right up to it! We got some fun GoPro video walking up to the falls. You don’t realize how wet you really get until you get close! I loved seeing tons of tents setup just outside the falls. And you could also see sheep all around on the surrounding farms!

For those adventurous enough to do it, there are tons of stairs you can climb to get to the top of the falls. The view from the top was totally worth the stair climb! (You can get a better idea of the stair climb from the GoPro video at the end of the blog!)

Next stop was Vik and it’s black sand beach…

It took a bit of walking to capture this next photograph. There is some video proof of me braving cars speeding by.

I enjoyed taking pics of the RV in different spots along our trip!

We were most excited to see the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon during our trip. We stopped before the main area to get a few nice wide photographs of the lagoon, and we got lucky enough to have a rainbow when we stopped!
iceland_0040iceland_0041iceland_0042
At the end of this rainbow was Nicole…and the RV!
iceland_0043iceland_0044
One of these glacier images…or possibly more…will end up size huge on our wall!!!

I’m not going to name names, but someone on our trip was crazy and wanted to get into the freezing water. She may have talked us all into doing the same.

Again, not naming any names, but someone really liked to jump out into the freezing cold!!!
iceland_0067iceland_0068iceland_0069iceland_0070
It was kind of tough luck if you had to go to the bathroom here. This was the area where you could hike to Dettifoss and Selfoss waterfalls. Two beautiful waterfalls…in fact, Dettifoss is reported to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe. This area was a great example of the crazy landscapes of Iceland.  It looked like another world here!!!

After we left Dettifoss area, we got some interesting news…it turned out that while we were in Iceland, a random person decided to walk into an Apple store in Los Angeles and pretend to be Kevin Berg. He upgraded every phone on my account, which left Nicole and I phoneless! Lucky for us, we had iphones and a wi-fi device to at least access email. We found that out right before I took this photograph. It was probably about 11pm-12midnight when this photograph and the following photographs of steam and mudpits were taken! That midnight sun is crazy!!!

Sheep were everywhere!!!
iceland_0098iceland_0099iceland_0100iceland_0101iceland_0102iceland_0103
If it’s not apparent enough from this photograph, it was quite the climb to get to the top of this crater…

There’s always that one member of the family…
iceland_0127iceland_0128iceland_0129
The town in the next few images is where they filmed part of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The movie may have told you they were in Greenland, but, nope, it was Iceland!!!

The downside to the RV…having to empty the chemical toilet…and, no, the ladies never offered to help empty it!

If you ever wondered what it looks like between two continental plates, this is it!
iceland_0149iceland_0150iceland_0151iceland_0152iceland_0153
We stopped in Reykjavik for a few hours one day. This is where we said goodbye to Larrion and Sam as they had enough of the RV and wanted a few nights in a nice hotel. It was a pretty cool town with the best part being our visit to the JS Watch Company. While I didn’t get the super awesome watch with the volcanic ash face, I did get a pretty sweet watch! Best customer service I’ve ever had buying a watch. If you find yourself in Reykjavik, stop by!

Nicole and I spent some time exploring shipwrecks in Grindavik on our last full day. We made our way from the orange lighthouse down to several different shipwrecks.

We also stood between two continental plates on our last day in Iceland. We stood right between the North American Plate and the Eurasian Plate.
iceland_0178iceland_0179iceland_0180iceland_0181

One of our last stops of the trip was to visit Giganta’s cave! It’s a super cool art project! There is a little video of the giant in the GoPro video…it’s pretty funny!!!

iceland_0182 iceland_0183iceland_0184iceland_0185iceland_0186

If you made it this far, awesome! We hope you enjoyed seeing a few our of photographs from the amazing trip we had in Iceland!!! If you are interested in a print of one of our photographs, let us know

Now, we have a little video of the trip as well!
