Casey and Ashlie were married at Caspiana Plantation on November 23rd in a beautiful and intimate wedding. Ashlie is the older sister to one of our first brides, Heather, and Casey is Heather’s husband’s brother! We were so happy when Ashlie contacted us to photograph her wedding! We actually pushed back leaving for vacation a day just to be able to photograph this wedding and that’s because these two families are just so great. While we may have been at the wedding working, we were treated like part of the family, and those are the types of weddings where we can’t help but kick it up a notch!
On their wedding day, it was freezing cold, wet, and raining…and I actually think that made things better. The wedding had to be moved from outside under the beautiful oak tree to inside, but it was perfect. You could just feel the love in the room as the music started playing and the ceremony began. Tears flowed before Ashlie even had a chance to walk down the stairs to start her entrance because she heard Somewhere Over the Rainbow playing just before her entrance song. Ashlie and Heather lost their beloved mother much, much too early, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow reminds Ashlie so much of her mother. So, even while her mother may not have been there in person, she was clearly there in spirit. Ashlie and Casey were married by Ashlie’s grandfather, who may have shed a tear or two sharing his delight in being able to preside over the weddings of his grandchildren. It was such a sweet and intimate ceremony where Ashlie and Casey spent most of the time exchanging smiles. I cannot possibly envision any way that this wedding could have been more beautiful or perfect.
And, one last note from the day, Ashlie and Casey didn’t really have any pictures of the two of them together prior to their wedding day, so, when planning their wedding, Casey insisted upon prioritizing photography. He wanted to have lots of pictures of him and his beautiful bride. We were more than happy to help! Now onto the pictures!!!
This wedding cake was actually made by the bride’s sister, Heather! There are a few interesting stories about the progression of this cake, but I’ll keep those to myself for now! :)
Ashlie and Casey, thank you for having us as part of your special day! You two are just plain awesome and we wish you so much happiness and love!!!
