Investing in Portraits

Good Monday morning! Today’s blog is all about investing in your portraits and why we think it’s important. As photographers, we’re always encouraging people to invest time and money into a photo session. Whether it’s wedding, engagement, maternity, newborn, family, anniversary, or just because pictures, we firmly believe that photographs are important because they capture you at that particular moment in your life. And let’s face it…life is short. Nicole and I don’t fall into the category “I’d rather be behind the lens than in front of it.” We actually practice what we preach and, on at least a yearly basis (if not more), we invest money in a portrait session! It’s not because we’re vain. It’s because we want those memories captured…and captured well. We enjoy looking back at our photos and seeing how much we’ve changed since we first met.

For the past three years right around our anniversary, Nicole and I have a portrait session where we have new pictures taken. And we LOVE it!!! Pictures from each session decorate the walls of our home and our office. Those pictures truly mean the world to us. (And it’s really important that you get prints or canvases of your photos rather than let them hide in a folder on your desktop for no one to see!) Not only do we get to enjoy looking at them on a daily basis, we get the fun of the session. Our anniversary pictures consist of a couple of hours dedicated to just us hugging, kissing, cuddling, and being us together. IT IS AWESOME!!! This particular year, we went above and beyond our normal investment to make sure we have pictures that no one else has! You see, this year, we did a destination portrait session (which we highly recommend)! Nicole and I traveled to Lake Tahoe and brought along “our” photographers, Chelsea and Mack of McGowan Images. What happened was some epic photos of our vacation that we will have forever. And because these yearly portraits mean so much to us, we are going to offer a little extra with all couple sessions booked this February. Details at the end!

I’ve never seen real snow and the idea for our portraits this year was to have pictures of us in the snow. Mission accomplished. Now I have photographs of that special memory. These first few images are of Nicole and I around the cabin we spent a few days in.

After taking photos around the cabin, it was time to put the beautful backdrop that is Lake Tahoe to good use!

(A big shout out and thank you to Chelsea and Mack from Mcgowan Images for all of these beautiful images!)

Pretty epic, right? We think destination sessions are great! And it doesn’t have to be something as big as a trip to Lake Tahoe, but even to Dallas, New Orleans, or the Gulf Coast! But, honestly, capturing a special time in your life can happen anywhere and be pretty epic. Travel certainly isn’t a requirement.

Now for the special offer I mentioned earlier…For all couple sessions (engagements/anniversary/just because we love each other sessions) booked this February, we are going to include a FREE 16×24 canvas of your choosing! This way you will have great pictures and an amazing canvas to display in your home! To book a session, shoot us an email by clicking Contact above or by sending us an email at bergphotographyblog@gmail.com!
