Once upon a time…my big sister, Kennie, got married! I remember like it was yesterday when Kennie called me to talk about going on her first date with a guy named Jon. There was a slight problem, though. You see, she was living in Albany, New York, but she had decided it was time for her to make a change and leave freezing cold Albany for the warmer weather of Austin, Texas. Kennie was worried that maybe she shouldn’t waste this guy’s time since she was planning on moving. I, of course, being a wise and insightful younger brother, told her that she should definitely go on the date and have a good time. So she met this guy at a local coffee shop and that’s how Kennie and Jon first started…with a cup of coffee.
It’s been a lot of fun for our family to prepare for the big wedding. From shooting their engagement session in Disney World, to Nicole and Mom talking about throwing Kennie’s bridal shower, to the constant calls from Kennie asking advice about different little wedding touches, to discussing plans over Sunday lunches. And, while we didn’t always plan to photograph the wedding, we couldn’t really say no when we were asked. I’ll be honest and say it may have been the most stressed out I’ve ever been shooting a wedding! After all, it was my big sister! But, in the end, everything turned out great!
We showed up for the wedding rehearsal and met Jon’s family. All of them were simply amazing! We had a great time at the rehearsal dinner at Hotel Faust, and it was fun to hear stories about both Kennie and Jon! The next morning, Nicole headed to Felger and Friends Salon with Kennie and her bridesmaids to begin preparation for the ceremony. I met up with them later at Castle Avalon, the beautiful venue they had chosen. (Kennie has a serious love of castles!)
Despite mother nature’s best efforts to wreak havoc on the wedding weekend, the rain stopped just in time for Kennie and Jon to have their first look. The day only got better from there! Kennie and Jon had one of the sweetest first looks we’ve ever had with both of them getting a little choked up by all the emotion in the air! And, when the doors opened and Kennie walked in on Dad’s arm just as “At Last” started to play, I was glad to have a camera in front of my face! It was just a beautiful moment! Kennie was a bit worried that a first look would affect Jon’s reaction to seeing her walk down the aisle, but her fears were unwarranted. Jon still had the perfect reaction to seeing her walk down the aisle!
It was a beautiful ceremony and the reception that followed was tons of fun! Everyone had a great time on the dance floor and jumping in the photo booth! (We highly recommend S&S Photobooth Rental as they were such a pleasure to work with!) After the reception, everyone was having such a great time that it was way too early for the party to end. So the Berg and Peterson clans took over the hotel lobby, kept the local Domino’s busy, and spent the rest of the night visiting and celebrating the newlyweds!
Now on to the pictures!!!
Remember how I said they had the sweetest first look??? I just love this next image of Jon trying to compose himself…perhaps even wiping away a tear…and Kennie just beaming with happiness!!!
Kennie put a lot of time and effort into making a special “treasure chest” for our nephew, Kristoffer, to carry down the aisle. Kristoffer was so cool in his little suit and bow tie! But the best part was that he really didn’t want to walk on the flower petals!!! His face was priceless as he tried to step over the petals!
There isn’t much of a doubt where we Berg boys get our good looks from! Our Dad is definitely a handsome man!
Jon likes to tell this “story” about making a hole in one on a par 4. So, for a special groom’s cake surprise, my Mom had this cake made for Jon!
Technically, Nicole and I were wedding guests so it’s only fair that our awesome dancing skills make the blog, too!
Nicole totally led the charge when it came to dancing! She showed off dancing the Cupid Shuffle, the Wobble, and the Cha Cha Slide!!! Yeah, my wife is super awesome!
Kristoffer was a dancing fool at this wedding! I’m so glad Nicole captured this image of the two of us having fun!!!
Kennie and Jon were the last two off the dance floor as they shared a private last dance…
…before heading off to their sparkler exit!
Kennie, you were an absolutely beautiful bride! Nicole and I are incredibly happy for you and Bill…I mean Jon (inside joke!)! Jon, we are glad to have you as part of the family!!!
You guys perfectly captured the tone of the evening! You have given Kennie and Jon such beautiful pictures of an evening they will never forget. Such happy faces of family and friends. Thank you both for this beautiful gift!
I couldn’t be happier, the photos are gorgeous! Thank you so much for capturing my magical day!
