On Monday, January 28th, Nicole and I woke up at 3 am and left beautiful Lake Tahoe. It was 16 degrees outside as we drove through the snow on our way to the airport. At 3:20 p.m., we landed in Dallas, Texas where the local temperature was a balmy 75 degrees. Then we jumped into Nicole’s car and drove about 8 hours to Vacherie, Louisiana…or, more specifically, Oak Alley Plantation. We made this trip to meet up with other photographers at Kick Start My Art, a workshop hosted by Mark Eric and Brandon O’Neal.
Nicole and I have been dying to shoot at Oak Alley, so this workshop was a no brainer. We stayed at a cottage on property (which we highly recommend!) and were walking the grounds at about 6:30 a.m. to do a morning session prior to the start of the workshop. Our hosts scheduled a few gracious models who were willing to wake up super early for the sunrise session! And let me give a big thanks to the makeup artists who woke up super early as well to provide the hair and makeup for all of our models! Check out their work at www.verdebridal.com! It was a great day of practicing, learning, and visiting with other photographers. Several were Facebook friends who we were finally able to meet in person while others became new friends.
Today, we’re sharing a few of our favorite images from our wonderful day at Oak Alley!
Man we would LOVE to shoot a wedding at Oak Alley! It is a gorgeous location!!!
To all of our photographer friends, it was so great to finally meet all of you in person! And, to Mark and Brandon, it was great to see you guys again! Thanks for always being so generous with your knowledge and help! We can’t wait to work with you guys again!
Oh those trees. And oh that last shot! Really stunning work, guys! I’d love to shoot there someday!
