It’s walkabout time!!! This past December we took a little trip to Sweden and had an amazing time! We love the Scandinavian countries so Sweden was a must see. In addition to Sweden, we made a little return trip to Tromso Norway since we have been dying to see the Northern Lights again (like we did in Finland)! Our first day in Sweden was a beautiful snowy day and it was the only day we could make it to one of the Christmas markets, so we enjoyed the market in the snow!
The Christmas market was busy and fun! There was a great band playing and tons of people were out dancing and having a great time! It’s hard to tell from this photograph, but these people were dancing like crazy!
It’s important to make the silliest face possible when posing for a test photo!!!
Since I, Kevin, grew up riding around in a Volkswagen van, I found it necessary to take a couple pics of this snowy van!
We took a boat ride around Stockholm on a beautiful sunny day but it got a little tense as our boat cut through some thick ice!
This tree was just across the street from our hotel. It was huge and bright! It wasn’t to hard to find our way back to the hotel thanks to this gorgeous Christmas tree!
I decided to brave the rain one night and take some night images around Stockholm. It was so nice and peaceful walking around old town after hours!
The next few images are from Tromso Norway! We visited Tromso a few years ago during the summer, which meant the sun never set. This visit was so different! There was about an hour or two of twilight otherwise it was dark!!! We were really hoping to see the northern lights again, but the weather was terrible. Rain, rain, and more rain. Despite the rain, Tromso is a wonderful little city and was decorated beautifully for the holidays!
Nicole and I took a photo with the bridge and cathedral behind us on our first trip to Tromso, so it was important for us to recreate that same photo. There was construction in the area we first took the photo, so we aren’t in the exact spot, but pretty close!
We took a group tour to find the northern lights and spent a ton of time driving around trying to find a break in the clouds. But Norway was covered in clouds and rain so we made the drive to Finland. Seriously, we drove to Finland chasing the northern lights and wouldn’t you know it…Finland delivered!!! It only lasted for about 3 or 4 minutes, but we saw the northern lights again, which only added to our love for Finland!
It’s time for BONUS TRAVEL PHOTOS!!!!! Thanks to some crazy fog in London, we missed our connecting flight home to Dallas and we became stranded in London for 48 hours. That wouldn’t have been too bad, but our luggage was no where to be found so we were in London, with no hotel, no clothes, and no idea what to do. The fog caused so many delays that British Airlines just said forget it and closed down. Seriously, they closed the help desk at Heathrow, wouldn’t answer the phone, and offered no help at all. So we spent several hours trying to re-book flights, find our luggage, to no avail. So we booked a hotel for the next two nights and made our way into London. Aside from the whole terrible experience with the airline, London was great! I was super sad to not have my beloved camera strap with me, but I did have my camera to grab a few photos! Not sure how we did it, but we packed in a ton of sites into one day and had an amazing time!
No surprise at all that Nicole found some artwork that we needed to bring home with us!
As fans of the theater, we made sure to stop by The Globe Theater…we just so happened to stumble upon the original location by chance!
We ended our fun filled day in London with a visit to the London Eye!
So that’s it for this edition of walkabout! We are currently starting our next walkabout today as we are traveling to Thailand!!! So make sure to follow our adventures on instagram @kevkberg and @nicolehberg!!!
